Privacy Policy

This explains what Olumie collects, what it deliberately doesn't, and who else
is involved. We've tried to describe what actually happens rather than write
something that covers every eventuality.
The part most people care about: we never record your video or audio.
Calls connect directly between browsers and don't pass through our servers. There
is nothing for us to store, hand over, or leak, because it never reaches us.
What we don't collect
- Video and audio. Not recorded, not stored, not transmitted
through our servers. Connections are peer-to-peer (WebRTC).
- Your camera frames, for safety checks. The nudity detection
runs entirely inside your own browser. Frames are analysed on your device and are
never uploaded to us.
- Chat history. Text messages are relayed in real time and
aren't written to a database. Once a conversation ends, it's gone.
- Card details. Payments go directly to Stripe. We never see
your card number.
- Real names, phone numbers, or addresses. We don't ask.
What we do collect
- Your IP address. Our server necessarily sees it to connect
you. We store it only when a ban or a report is recorded — it's how bans work.
- Your email address, only if you choose to sign in. Signing in
is optional; Olumie works anonymously.
- Matching preferences — declared gender, gender preference,
interests, region, language. These are sent to the server to pair you with someone
and are held in memory for the session only, not written to a database.
- Subscription status. If you buy Premium we store your user id,
whether Premium is active, and an identifier from Stripe for your billing record.
- Reports. If you report someone or are reported, we record the
reason, any note, the IP addresses of both people, timestamps, and what action was
taken. This is how moderation works and how repeat offenders get caught.
Stored in your own browser
We use your browser's local storage — not cookies for tracking — to remember that
you've accepted the age gate, your declared gender, and your matching preference.
Clearing your browser data removes them. We don't use advertising or analytics
trackers.
Who else is involved
Running Olumie means a handful of other companies process some data on our behalf:
- Render — hosts the service; handles the traffic.
- Supabase — stores accounts, subscription status, bans and reports.
- Stripe — processes payments. Their privacy policy governs your
payment data.
- Resend — sends sign-in emails.
- Google — if you use "Continue with Google", it handles that
sign-in. Separately, your browser contacts Google's public STUN server to work out
how to connect you to another person, which means it sees your IP address. This is
standard for video calling.
- Discord — moderation reports are forwarded to a private
channel so they can be reviewed quickly. These messages include the IP addresses
recorded with the report.
- jsDelivr and Google Fonts — serve code and fonts to the page.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it for advertising.
How long we keep things
Bans and reports are kept for as long as they're useful for moderation — a ban
that expires isn't a ban. Account data is kept while your account exists. Anything
held only in memory for matching disappears when your session ends.
Your choices
- Use Olumie without an account. Most of it works anonymously.
- Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by
emailing olumiesupport@gmail.com.
- Cancel Premium yourself at any time from the Subscription button.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your data, such as
correction or objection. Email us and we'll honour them.
One honest limit: we may keep a ban record even after an account is deleted.
Otherwise a ban could be erased by deleting an account, which would make moderation
meaningless.
Children
Olumie is strictly for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data
from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using Olumie, report them in the app
or email us and we'll act on it.
Security
Video is encrypted in transit by WebRTC, and the site is served over HTTPS. No
service is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee that the person on the other end
of a call isn't recording their own screen — treat strangers accordingly.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes
affecting people with accounts will be notified by email.
